The editor will be responsible for: mentoring, and overseeing the editorial team under the direction of the managing editor, in addition to researching and writing original material, rewriting and editing material from staff and contributing writers, attending media briefings, etc.
Applicants **must** have a journalism background and worked as either a full-time journalist or copy editor in one of the Asean Community country's.
In addition the applicant *must have*:
Outstanding English language skills (note we publish in UK English)
A well rounded knowledge of the Asean region and the various issues relating to it and individual countries.
Well developed logical thinking and cognitive skills
An appreciation and understanding of the differences between print and online news media
Enthusiasm for adopting the latest technology and techniques to improve reader experience
Interested in writing about policies and governance, not politics and governments
They should also have, or be willing to learn, basic search engine optimisation techniques (SEO), advanced web search techniques, digital media, social media, and fact checking skills, and be committed to the principles of professional journalism.
Familiarity with Photoshop, iMovie, and WordPress will be highly regarded.
The position would suit a journalist or copy editor with three+ years business journalism experience.
The position is based in Phnom Penh. Temporary accommodation can be provided to the successful applicant. Relocation expenses are not claimable.
